Venturer legal
Privacy Policy
Effective September 14, 2026
Venturer, operated by Presciential LLC (“Venturer”, “we”, “us”), helps you discover events, deals, and leagues happening near you. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Venturer app or website, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and password, or — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the name and email address those providers share with us.
Profile information. During setup you provide a public display name, which may be a first name, nickname, or another name you are comfortable sharing. A username is optional. You may later add an optional bio, profile photo, and birthday. Your birthday is stored separately from your public profile, is not visible to other users, and is used only to determine eligibility for age-restricted events.
Age assurance. Before a new account is created, we may ask Apple or Google for a privacy-preserving age range. When that information is unavailable, we ask for a birth month and year solely to decide whether you meet our minimum age. We retain the resulting age band, the method used, and the date of the check, but not the fallback month and year. We use age-assurance information only for legal compliance, account eligibility, and age-appropriate access.
Location. On the website, Cloudflare uses your public IP address to provide us with a coarse city-level location so the app can start with nearby results. On mobile devices, we ask for permission to read your device’s location. If automatic location is unavailable, we start in Madison, Wisconsin. You can search by place name or choose a different location manually at any time. Location coordinates used for discovery are sent to our servers to run nearby searches and generate recommendations; we do not build a history of your movements.
Voice search. On phones and tablets, Smart Search includes an optional microphone button. We ask for microphone access only when you tap it, and we use it only while you are dictating. Your device’s built-in speech recognition converts what you say into text, and to do that it may send your spoken audio to Apple or Google. The audio is never sent to our servers and is not stored by the app; only the transcribed text appears in the search field, where you can edit or discard it before sending. If you decline microphone access, typed search continues to work normally.
Content you submit. Ratings and written reviews, interest marks, content reports, and — if you manage an organization — the events, deals, leagues, images, and other content you publish.
Usage information. If discovery recording is enabled, we record which event, deal, league, and organization detail pages you open, when you opened them, and where in Venturer the open came from. Recurring event occurrences may be grouped under their main event when we show this history or use it for recommendations. We use this activity to personalize recommendations and evaluate how people discover listings. Saving a listing, marking interest or attendance, and submitting a rating are deliberate account actions and are stored independently of the discovery-recording setting.
Smart Search results. When Smart Search selects listings to suggest, we record the listing type, resolved category tag identifiers, nearby result counts, whether the candidate list was shortened, and the ordered listing identifiers it selected. A selected listing may become unavailable before the app can display it. If you open a suggestion, we can link that open to the result set and its original position so we can measure whether the suggestions were useful. We do not store your raw Smart Search wording or date filters. You can review your recorded detail-page opens, turn passive discovery recording off, or delete discovery activity and Smart Search result sets at any time in Manage My Data; see Section 7.
Ranked results we show you. When Venturer ranks listings for you — for example on the Trending screen — we record which listings appeared, the order they appeared in, and which version of our ranking settings produced them. When you then open one of those listings, we link the open to that list and its position. We use this to measure whether a ranking is useful and to compare one set of ranking settings against another; without a record of what was shown, an open cannot be judged against anything. This is recorded only while discovery recording is enabled, and these lists are deleted automatically after 90 days.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the service: showing nearby content, managing your account, and syncing your activity across devices.
- To personalize your experience, including recommendations based on your activity and profile.
- To display public content you create (such as your username and written reviews) to other users.
- To moderate content, investigate reports, and keep the service safe.
- To communicate with you about your account, such as email confirmation and password resets.
- To report aggregate interest to the organizations that publish listings on Venturer, such as how many people viewed one of their events, without identifying you. See Section 3.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. How Your Information Is Shared
Other users. Your display name, optional username, profile details you make visible, and content you post publicly (such as event reviews) are visible to other users of the service. Your birthday is never included in your public profile.
Organizations that publish listings. An organization can see aggregate counts about its own listings — for example how many people viewed an event, and how many saved it. These are totals only. They never include your name, username, profile, or when you viewed something, and organizations cannot see who viewed a listing. A count is withheld entirely when too few people are represented for a total to be meaningful. View counts are drawn only from people who have discovery recording enabled, so they are a sample rather than a complete count.
Service providers. We rely on a small number of providers to run Venturer, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosting, authentication, and database services.
- Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery for our website and our map tiles; when you use the website, Cloudflare also derives a coarse city-level location from your IP address for nearby results. When you load the app or view a map, your device contacts Cloudflare, which receives your IP address and the map area you are viewing. The maps are served from our own infrastructure, so no separate map company receives this. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, basemap © Protomaps.
- MapTiler — place search and geocoding; when you search for a place or the app looks up an address, your device contacts MapTiler, which receives your IP address and the search text or coordinates.
- Google and Apple — if you choose to sign in with them.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting; if the app encounters a problem, technical details about the error and your device are sent so we can fix it. These reports include your account ID but not your name, email, or IP address.
- OpenAI — automated safety moderation of text and images you submit for public display.
- Apple and Google speech recognition — if you use voice search, your device’s speech service turns what you say into text; to do that, your spoken audio may be sent to Apple or Google. We never receive the audio itself.
- Google Gemini — if you use Smart Search, the text of your search conversation is processed to interpret your request and generate results. To choose which nearby listings best match what you asked for, short excerpts of those public listings — their names, descriptions, categories, and towns — are also sent. Your location is not: it is used only by our own database to find nearby listings.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Venturer or its users.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete selected optional data—profile extras, saved activity and personalization (including recorded detail-page opens, Smart Search result sets, and the ranked result lists described in Section 1), ratings and reviews, or social activity—without deleting your account from Settings → Manage My Data or at venturer.app/account/data-delete. You can permanently delete your entire account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, from the age-assurance screen when account access is restricted, or at venturer.app/account/delete. Account deletion removes your profile and personal data from our systems. Some records may be retained where required for legal, safety, or moderation purposes (for example, resolved content reports).
5. Security
All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, and access to personal data is restricted by row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
6. Children
Venturer is not directed to children under 13, and people under 13 may not create an account. We use platform-provided age ranges or a neutral age screen to enforce that minimum. Accounts for teenagers use privacy-protective defaults and do not receive content whose age requirement exceeds their known age range. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us so we can investigate and delete the account and associated personal data.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- You can edit your profile information in the app at any time.
- You can control location access through your device settings.
- You can control microphone access for voice search through your device settings.
- You can control who sees your activity in Settings → Activity Visibility.
- You can review recorded detail-page opens in Settings → Manage My Data → Your Discovery Activity.
- You can turn passive discovery recording off in Settings → Manage My Data. Turning it off stops new detail-page opens, Smart Search result sets, and ranked result lists from being recorded immediately, and stops your activity contributing to the aggregate counts organizations see for their listings. It does not disable deliberate account actions such as saves, interest marks, attendance, or ratings. Previously recorded discovery data can be removed there under saved activity and personalization.
- You can delete your account and data as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, or export it. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
